The National Elite Auction Foundation Borculo proudly carries its name. Since 1979, "Borculo" has been a household name in the equestrian world as the very first foal auction in the Netherlands. In many ways, Foal Auction Borculo has been a pioneer and is rightfully considered the premier league of Dutch foal auctions.
Since 2025, the organization is in hands of the Reesink and Venderbosch families from the Achterhoek region. With this change, the oldest foal auction in the Netherland has returned to its roots in 'De Achterhoek'.
After several online editions, Foal Auction Borculo is now also returning to the Achterhoek in physical sense. Reesink and Venderbosch want to bring back a touch of the past: "All the online possibilities are great, of course, but we also want to make it a real event again. Borculo is the oldest foal auction in the Netherlands, and that deserves a (on)live auction." This change also brings with it the integration of a leading auction company and platform, HORSE24.

The Selection Committee
For many years, the Borculo Foal Auction has been one of the most highly regarded foal auctions in the Netherlands. Borculo foals find their way into (top-level) sport all over the world. The dressage selection team consists of Nol Gerritsen and Wouter Plaizier. These selectors have an eye for talent and possess extensive knowledge and expertise in both sport and breeding.
